Rebecca has been providing psychotherapy in the Tri-Lakes Colorado Community since 1995. In 2004, Rebecca founded the Tri-Lakes Center for Family Development in order to address the mental health and wellness needs in the growing Tri-Lakes community. Since that time TLC for Families has evolved into a thriving, energetic and involved group mental health practice known as Tri-Lakes Collaborative Counseling. Housed in a charming, 1917 home in Historic Downtown Monument, clients feel comfortable and welcome as they walk in the door, which is conveniently located just blocks from I-25.
Rebecca first trained in EMDR therapy in 2007, delighted by its effectiveness. She became a Certified EMDR therapist in 2019 and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in 2022. Rebecca now launches Tri-Lakes Collaborative EMDR to provide evidence based, cutting edge treatments for individuals and groups committed to health, healing and resilience.
"It's an honor and privilege to be a part of so many healing journeys over these many years. I look forward to being a part of much more healing in the years to come."
Background
During her graduate schooling at the University of Chicago, 1986-1988, Rebecca focused primarily on learning family systems therapy, which continues to have a great influence on her practice. As a social worker, she works with clients to develop a treatment plan specifically designed for them. She draws on various treatment philosophies and techniques, such as: cognitive-behavioral interventions, strength and solution based therapies, experiential and narrative models, family of origin work and EMDR.
After 7 years experience as a treatment coordinator for a residential treatment center, Rebecca decided to focus more on the prevention of mental health issues. She became a parent educator and child development specialist in order to offer all families necessary resources for developing in healthy and happy ways. She previously facilitated workshops and classes for parents and families and offered parent and family consultation for specific issues and questions.
From 2012-2014, Rebecca taught Clinical Social Work at The University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work.
